Automotive Sales Consultant — Service Drive | Kuhn Volkswagen
No lot ups. No waiting on weekend traffic. Just customers who already trust us.
If you've sold cars for a few years, you already know the math on the service drive: those customers bought from a dealer once, they're already on the property, we know exactly what they're driving and what they owe on it, and about a third of them are in a better position than they realize.
Most stores waste that. We're staffing it properly.
Kuhn Volkswagen has been in South Tampa for over 20 years. We're the #1 volume Volkswagen dealer in Central Florida, tracking in the top 20 VW stores nationally, and our service drive moves 50 cars through it every day. Every one of them is a conversation nobody currently has time to have.
What you'll earn
- $500 per vehicle sold + volume bonuses + other bonuses
- Signing bonus for the right candidate with a verifiable track record
- Guaranteed pay for your first 90 days while you build the process and the pipeline
Schedule: Weekday-heavy, earlier out... much more flexible than a "typical" sales role.
What the job actually looks like
- Work the drive, all day. You're stationed in service, not on the showroom floor. You talk to customers while they wait, not after they've left.
- Run the numbers before they arrive. Using our equity mining platform you'll know who's in a positive equity position, who's near lease end, and who's about to get a repair estimate that costs more than their next twelve payments — before they pull in.
- Have the honest conversation. "Your timing chain job is $3,800. Here's what a payment on a new Tiguan looks like, and here's what we'd give you for this one today." Done right, that's a service to the customer, not a pitch. Done wrong, it costs us a service customer. We're hiring for the difference.
- Partner with the service advisors. They're your traffic source and your early warning system. The consultants who win here make the advisors' lives easier and get handed the right customers as a result.
- Structure and close with your managers. You'll work deals with the desk, present numbers, close, and deliver the vehicle yourself.
- Build the process, not just the deals. Consistent outreach before and after service visits, so the pipeline works even on a slow drive day.
- Own your CRM. Detailed, current customer files. This role lives or dies on knowing exactly where every conversation stands.
- Know the product. VW puts a lot of technology in these cars, and a customer trading a six-year-old Jetta needs to be shown what's changed.
- Live The Kuhn Code. Our customer experience standard — you'll learn it and be held to it.
What we're looking for
- At least 2 years of automotive dealership sales experience. This is not an entry-level seat — you'll be presenting numbers on day one.
- Service drive or equity mining experience is a major plus, especially with Automotive Mastermind, AutoAlert, or a similar platform.
- Patience and read. A customer waiting on an oil change did not come here to buy a car. Knowing when to open the conversation and when to hand them a coffee and walk away is the whole skill.
- You work well with other departments. Service advisors have to want you standing there.
- Strong written communication — clean grammar in email and text
- Organized enough to run a pipeline of dozens of active conversations at different stages
- Enthusiastic, steady energy, comfortable handling objections and talking numbers
- Valid Florida driver's license and an insurable driving record
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
